If you're ever inclined to have your fork sliders chromed that would be a great time to bring your front suspension out of the 60's and install "cartridge emulators" we had them in both our bikes and they are a must have.
The stock fork dampers are fixed rate, with the slow undulations typical of freeway riding, they are under-damped allowing wallowing in high speed turns, and with fast undulations like a bump, they are WAY over damped sending a shock through the bike into you that can wear you out on a long ride.
Of-course you will want to upgrade the rear end too.
