Man, that's really bad news....

I just hope, for your sake, that your insurance company doesn't have the same fine-print that mine did...

I got zapped in a hailstorm in late April with hailstones about 2 inches in diameter. If I'd had maple syrup and cream I could served the car as a "blue four-wheeled waffle"... The quote to fix was about 35% of the original cost.

When I contacted the insurance broker, I was told that they only provide free car hire if the car is written-off, and I should ask the guys at the panel-shop. When I spoke to the panel-shop guy, he said "sorry, but your bill is less than the threshold at which we provide a "loaner", so talk to your insurance... :-(

So, there I was, potentially without a car for a month - having to rely on others...

After a few days I did manage to scrounge a company VW CitiGolf (aka Rabbit in the US) with 208,000 km on the clock. I had to drive that clapped-out wreck for 3 weeks and was so happy when they rang to tell me my car was ready...

To be fair on that VW, third-class driving is infinitely better than first-class walking... :-)

So, for your sake, I hope there are no hidden tripwires with antipersonnel insurance clauses attached...
