So there I was

I was proccedin', in my Ford Explorer, in a westerly direction along Rabbit Hill Road, m'lord, at a rate of speed of approximately 50km per hour and approaching the Terwillegar Drive intersection with the green light in my favour.
Whereupon, the young gentleman in the 1989 Ford Taurus, who was proccedin' in a easterly direction along Rabbit Hill Road, took it upon himself to make a left turn onto northbound Terwillegar Drive directly in front of my aforementioned Ford Explorer that I was driving through that same intersection. I did mention the green light was in my favour did I not? Ah yes - I did mention that.
BANG!! One written-off 1989 Ford Taurus. Just like that. A fast 180 degree spin and up over the curb onto the median and the whole passenger rear end is a pile of twisted metal.
And by the looks of it, one written-off 1994 Ford Explorer as well. The entire front end appears to be about 4cm to the right of where it used to be. Enough so that the passenger door is jammed shut. and the hood is a bit crumpled - as is the front bumper. The front stabilizer bar is bent and it appears one of the tie rods is too. And I can't lock it because every time I do the fricken factory alarm goes off and I don't know how to disconnect that. Damn, I had enough trouble finding the fuel suply kill switch re-set button so I could start the damn truck at all.
Ohhhh - I twacked him good. Nobody hurt. Cops took an hour to get there (really busy on a Friday rush hour). An off-duty firefighter stopped to see if everybodt was OK. Took the kid's pulse and looked at me and said, "He's racing pretty good. Think we should call an ambulance?" I said I'd keep an eye on him and if he started to look like he was going into any shock I'd handle it. Then an ambulance pulled in. The Paramedic took a look and was comfortable with the fact we appeared to be OK.
Poor kid. On his birthday no less. 16 going on 17. Driving with a torn ACL in his right knee. On crutches. Why he was behind the wheel is beyond me. Said his leg cramped and he couldn't get to the brake. so he tried to hit the gas and make it through in front of me. Big mistake. Don't argue with an SUV. Especially an older one that's still made of steel.
If he thought his insurance was high before.... wait untill he gets the next invoice with an accident and an undue care and attention while making a left turn charge on it. And his Dad weren't a bit too happy either when he got there. Oh No He Wasn't.
In the interim, or until I have the Exploder all checked out, I'm kinda' truckless. I'm sure I have a rental vehicle covered but there's the whole issue of getting everything handled and if they do write my truck off (and I'm sure they will althought the tow truck driver seemed to think it's driveable - especially after he hooked a chain to the bumper and pulled it away from the driver side tire so I could turn the wheels. But I'm not too sure what might be wrong underneath. There's some engine noises I don't like very much as well.) it means trying to find something affordable to drive. And when you're not working that can be a bit of a bitch.
So I'm getting the groceries on my bicycle for the next few days.

That's my excitement for this week-end. How was yours?
