Political parties in this country have been monitoring the political views of people since well before the World_Wide_Wank 'came' along.I mean they monitored Socrates, nailed him, and then Plato distorted him to minimise his impact on people's thinking.
The Onion manages to be very funny sometimes, but this skits a bit longggg, eh!?
Humour is a natural or 'emergent property' of human activity systems, and, the jokes, nicknames etc - say in a work place, work. Because people hear them and say "yeah! That's true (and FUNNY)!"
Of course they aren't funny to the target or their acolytes, or to the supporters of a creaky flawed system! Which most human activity systems are.
A good example might be my nickname for our CO LtCol. Hamilton Harvey-Sutton, back in the 1970s. He already had two nicknames; TwoDads and H2S.
The one I thought up? You'll have to ask.
Jokes and nicknames spread in the same way as infections, hence 'infectious laughter!' The science of statistics developed the S-curve which graphs such processes.
Hmm, so science might just manage to be a humanities subject! ?
