I'm a SoCal native and would get clobbered for making such an outdated remark. The semantics police would have cuffed me and threw away the keys!
Moderation is the key with the miso, soy sauce and the other goodies. MSG once in awhile in the stir fry dishes isn't going to hurt either. Slice up some Chashu(pork) and dice up some scallions/green onions in the Udon and eat in front of your stereo.
Doesn't get much better than that.
