I think there are a couple 'keys'.First? Power is important, but my Miata proved that Chasis and being nimble REALLY made the nut.
Second? WEIGHT. The near-2Ton Camero? Would be Extra Fine with the 300hp 6 except for being 1000lb overweight. Same engine in a 3000lb car? Whole different ball game. So, what good is a 650hp Gizmo7liter engine going to do you in a 3 ton TRUCK? Lot of power? Sure. But it'll still be slow. Even IF it'll get to 60 in 6sec or less, it probably won't handle worth a hill-0-beans.
Something like this link will get to 60mph in 4 seconds, and provide endless track thrills.
One other thing: I haven't seen the stats in a LONG time, but at one point, the 3 series BMW led the pack in Single Car accident driver fatalities. Wonder how THAT happened?
I think the highest performance cars should be sold with a MANDATORY 3 day DRIVING SCHOOL.
But that's just me.One OTHER thing about the BMW. It took BMW a couple years after the 'start' of the modern3-series (Their was a pre-war 3 series, as well) to make one quicker than the quickest of the 4 cyl. 2002 line. The 'Alpina' mods made 'em quick and with excellent handling.
I'd STILL like to find a pristine 2002Tii that I could afford.
Too much is never enough
