And another 20 in high end home audio I would say that the amplification and speakers are important but so is power delivery and cabling.

Then again some cars are doomed from the start due to physics, speaker size and location.

Also you are wrong about the importance of the head unit as it relates to sound quality. Now it may look cooler, offer features and gadgets and playback formats your current one doesn't have but that's it.

Over 90% of a good car audios systems sound is based on amps speakers and a sub or two, proper design, wiring and installation and finally adjustment and setup of the gear.
