If a 18 wheeler is coming alongdside to pas me.. I slow down an extra 5mph.. so they PASS quickly.
SAme for dumptrucks.. Or, if I pass them on freeway.. I 'wait' back of their rear, until no cars ahead so I can pass the truck at 20mph faster.. then slow down.
Having seen a Ford Taurus with a right angle 'dent' from the right rear wheel straight to the drivers door,(not near, I mean right up to it no space left) then over to the front right bumper..
Seemed the Taurus was pulling out of a stopped freeway line at the exact moment the truck zoomed by at 65mph. Kaboom. At least the Taurus driver NEVER had a clue how he died. One moment he was in a hurry. next instant he was jelly oozing out the folds of a crush to nothing car. I bet he had a 'closed casket' funeral
Then knew a family.. Sadly the wife had her head cut off when the van her nitwit husband drove between two semis for miles.. Well one 18 wheeler pulled over.. The van got caught between, her head met the edge of the trailer.. No more head body connection. She was a really wonderful person. They had five kids... All in the van. Everyone lived except her.
So I drive a high performance hatch. I can turn on a dime at high speeds and stay on all four wheels. Hit the brakes hard and turn too..
Fantastic safe machine to drive. I am not worried about SUVs or pickup trucks, just BIG trucks.
