RE: Scary!

There was talk of disabling cellphones when in motion but that won't work because you could be a passenger. Or you could be on a bus.

We got this redheaded bimbo in the neighborhood who TWICE almost caused an accident with one friend of mine. Riding with him, she pulls out right in front of him forcing him to slam on his brakes. He yells something like "Watch where the hell you are going" and she yells back like nothing could possibly be her fault. And then a couple weeks later she flung the driver's door open right in front of him forcing him to do some serious defensive maneuver, and again, she yells. I think I better shoot this bitch before she kills someone worth saving. And of course it is never her fault.

I have also ridden with people who were texting and they were all over the road. The nice thing about that is they are on the left side of the car so when they go left of center and get nailed, my chances are alot better than theirs when that eighteen wheeler destroys half the car.

Actually I think drunk driving should be legal. Face it some people don't know how to drive and if they drink they become a danger. I've known people who can drink a fifth of whiskey and still drive just fine, and never got a ticket. Others drive like shit when sober. However, that is not to say that they should not be responsible for their actions.

If they are at fault in a accident, if they are drunk then it is considered intentional and premeditated. That means a fender bender is vandalism. That means a injury is assault and battery which means no more certain jobs and no more guns. Kill someone, get the electric chair.

There is a record of every text and call made period. Use that and if the at fault person was on the phone (but not hands free) or texting at the time, apply the same principle of personal responsibility.

But they won't because they make more money the way it is. Plus it would be hard to implement if the person has security on their phone, unless you want the cops to require they unlock their phone to prove their innocence, and that won't fly in the courts. There was just a big lawsuit with Apple about that type of thing and Apple pretty much told the government to stick it up where it is sure not to get a sunburn. Actually that might turn out to be an interesting case because it is illegal to export encryption the US government cannot crack, but those iphones are made overseas. But then Romney had a fundraiser in Israel which is also clearly illegal under federal election law. It's not what you do, it is who does it that matters.

For some things there just is no workable solution. Want one ?

Guy goes, with his little id, to a friend's house. His friend has no kids and is a cop or armed security or something and getting off work he basically threw down his belt in the bedroom with the gun still loaded.

His friend's kid wanders into the bedroom, grabs the gun and comes out and shoots his own Father, killing him. (wish the cops could shoot like that instead of wasting 41 rounds on a guy with a knife)

There is no solution for that except to watch the kid. But you know how it is. But really, the guy was in his own house and is allowed to have a gun anywhere he damnwell pleases, like on the kitchen table. Keep out of reach of children of course but maybe this was a surprise visit, dude was in the neighborhood or whatever. What are they going to tell that kid when he asks "Where's Dad ?".

I remember when I was little I used to like to sit in cars. This is a car family. I am in my Aunt's Olds 442, which was a real one with a four speed. Screwing around I pushed in the clutch and the car went rolling out into the street. What if someone was coming and couldn't stop ? Whose fault would it be ? I doubt she left the keys in and it wouldn't matter anyway because you can still push in the clutch. And back then almost nobody locked their cars, especially in Grampa's driveway.

So, I say let consequences teach. If consequences do not fall on the responsible party then that is when the government should step in. Next time that bitch flings her door open without looking I hope someone rips it right off her car, and I hope she only has liability so she has to buy another car.

The problem is that while I would love to wreck this bitch, a car wreck is a serious pain in the ass. Her insurance would never pay enough. And the fact that you were driving to get somewhere, not to sit around waiting for the cops to make an accident report.

So people don't just hit these people and teach them a lesson. There was a time in my life I would, but it didn't happen. Back then people had common sense.

Common sense not being common anymore is at the root of most of the world's problems actually.
