Fun road trips to take in Australia - #1 - Tanami Track

Possibly the road with the worst corrugations ever. I mean ever! About 500 or 600 km of them.

It starts in Alice Springs NT and heads North West through the Tanami Desert past a couple of Aboriginal missions and past a couple of gold mines into WA near Halls Creek in the Kimberleys. About 1,000km full length.

I've driven it a couple of times on work trips to visit mining customers - Not the full distance - only from Alice to
the Granites, Dead Bullock Soak and Tanami Gold.

The first time, we took 4 spare wheels and tyres, but didn't use any.
But we did need need a new battery as the plates got shaken loose while driving through the night to The Granites. They had to fly a new battery out of Darwin for us!

A mate did it a few years later in a Range Rover and several of the roof pillars cracked through. He only realised when some of the windows started falling out!

Standard wildlife is big red kangaroos, camels, cattle, dingos and scrub turkeys - all of which can kill you if you hit them, or if they hit you.
