I have only owned a SB-104 and an SB-200 and those are the only two I ever worked on. Neither had any dial string or gear drive. The 104's tuning knob directly drove the tuner and of course the amp just had the tuning cap which was also directly driven. Sorry. When I have old radios that slip I put WD-40 on a q-tip and lube any roller or other thing that could cause resistance.
