RE: American manufacuring in the 60s




My first car was a few years after the 60's -- a '72 Mazda RX2 (picture from the 'net, but mine looked just like it). First model imported in the US with a rotary engine. 7k RPM redline, back when even 4 bangers would self-destruct at 5k. Unfortunately, the Wankel hadn't been quite perfected. First motor blew at 25k miles (13k miles after the warranty expired), and the second one died a sad death at 55k. Sure was fun though...I could eat the lunch of non-Z Camaros and non-Boss Mustangs, laughing hysterically while looking in the rearview mirror of my 4-door family car. :)
