Very effective reserve of pressure for water, should the mains pressure in our little estate fall enough during a bush-fire incident.Or swimming pools if we have to, just as the full-time fire brigade can.
So far its only use in an emergency has been to pump rainwater away from a house during a major cloudburst, which I saw coming on the local weather radar page.
The house in question is right at the bottom of a cul-de-sac street with a rise in the ground level just past it, sufficient for the house to nearly flood at least once a year.
Very reliable, easy to start, .... a practical tool.
