Average cost of TODAYS wedding FAR EXCEEDS 10k.
10k today gets you a LimoRide, Flowers, and Photography.
Maybe toss in the cost of Tux Rental.

Heck, a catered affair at the local Elks Lodge will go more than 10k.

I don't know how reliable the linked numbers are, but I'll bet they are in reasonable order.

Maybe 10 years ago, in a market where costs rise EVERY YEAR, I photographed a Biker Wedding that went easily 20 large. Wedding and reception took place at a very nice restaurant up on a hillside.

Some families that spend the Big Bucks getting rid of the daughter DO end up eating fast food for a couple years to pay it all off.
