I would use my 90mm Tamron 2.8 macro as a 'walk around' lens.
I suppose I could get used to an extension tube set.
Front component convertible are OK, but not the quality I'm looking for. Unless things have REALLY changed for the better.
As for Bellows? Intriguing idea. And would allow focus all the way to Micro. HMMMMM.
Extension tubes? That might be the way to go. Depending on the 'start' lens. These days I have the SONY 35mm 1.8 which I suspect would be a reasonable start. I've seen a non-Sony 60mm which might be better. A nice 90mm equivelent.
One OTHER idea and something I started with maybe 40 or so years ago is a REVERSE ADAPTOR. I used it on a Canon 50mm 1.8 with great results. The adaptor had an FD (than canon standard) lens mount on one side and 55mm Filter Threats (male) on the other. You screwed it into the lens like a filter and mounted it like a lens. Only the wrong way! No focus and aperture control was an acquired 'trick'. But it WORKED and I got my FIRST Macro Images. The lens turned backwards focused at 1:1 which was fine.
Too much is never enough
