I did not know that tours are offered.Over the years, I have probably been to Davies six times.
Before we were married, my wife and I had entertainment decisions to make. She opted for Best Of Broadway, over S.F. Symphony and/or opera (above). So we saw plenty of shows at the Orpheum, Golden Gate, and Curran theaters. But the opportunity cost was that opera, symphony, movies, and Giants had to be sacrificed.
With two kids, we can't afford to go to shows and concerts. 4 tickets, plus transportation and food add up. And if you go to kids' shows, such as Yo Gabba Gabba, Fresh Beat Band, and Nickelodeon productions, be warned that they don't last long.
That is in contrast to the late-80s and early-90s, when my wife (we weren't married then!) and friends would go to The Stone. With up to four bands, we wouldn't get out until after midnight. We weren't 21, so we had a stamp on our hand or arms, and had to use the two-drink minimum on Coke, Sprite, or juice. When Metallica weren't on tour, James Hetfield and/or Lars Ulrich would sometimes go to The Stone, and hang out at the bar and with the crowd.
