I love porters, but the best I get at my local pub are stouts usually. Even if they do have a porter it is a huge coffee and chocolate thing that is more a desert beer than a tasty porter.
They also always have a sour on the board amidst the IPA's (never got this). To give them credit, they do have a fairly reasonable balance, including a heffweisen or two, and some lager like things, and 1 or 2 ales, and a belgian or two as well. So I can usually find something to drink.
A gentleman is best defined as someone who knows how to play the accordion ... and doesn't.
