My son the grad student sent me this link (see below):
There's a PhD student at UVA who's using it as a creative medium (and maybe as a bit of a polemic device, too). It's actually kind of cool.

And here's one of his "ghosts", from Suzanne Vega's Tom's Diner, which was (and I didn't know this!) a seminal piece of music used in the development and evaluation of the MP3 algorithm.
