What's retro (and supposed to be, but is not, wrong) is that regulations hamper free enterprise

They, regulations, are supposed to minimize risk to, hamper exploitation of, and provide protections to, the public in general. This has nothing to do with hampering free enterprise as many would suggest.

However, government being the pawn of special interest that it actually is, regulations do hamper free enterprise to benefit a special few.

The election cycle has a much more profound affect on legislation than does the good of the public.
