Our living room table is a 180 pound redwood burl with a gnarly base under it. I was asked to pick the particular burl when it was being cured and the woodworker who was a friend made the table and presented it to us as a wedding present for my first wife and I.
Knowing what I now now about burl I would not have accepted it, but I did not know and we did accept it. It is now 40 years old and I have turned down 12K offers from it when I had it in Hawaii.
4.5 inches thick and 6 feet by 3 feet. A varithane finish.
I never have been able to get a pic of it that works...
