A lot happens in New Hampshire -- yes, and also its evil twin,Vermont :-) -- given its tiny size and remote location.

Kind of a statistical anomaly, is Northern New England :-)

Keene is a very nice little town; it's a college town, so it has a certain level of... color... that's fairly unique to it compared to other, similarly sized towns in NH. Plus, Mt. Monadnock, the second most-"climbed" mountain in the world, oversees the town and its valley (and its weird weather).
