any top 10 team had--- and they ended up the season ranked way, way down there.
This year, we have them at home.
I'm not impressed at all by the Ducks this year. No running game, after being top 3 in running in the country for years and years. Mariota is a good passer, but he isn't much of a pocket passer; he does better scrambling. If an end can get penetration, as happened two years running vs Stanford, he's done. Our O line had 3 serious injuries at tackle. A poor running game now is even poorer.
We're going to be in trouble if we don't get those tackles back (two may return, soon).
But that still won't help our biggest problem: D. This year, unlike previous ones, we're bending AND breaking.
I think we'll end up top 15, by season's end. Our new defensive coordinator just ain't got the smarts, though the guy he's replacing wasn't a genius, either. That said, he did the best he could with second-rate talent: we've always had a problem recruiting SEC type linemen, O and D.
This could be a long season if the Wash ST. squeaker was any indication--- and I think it was.
