I own a small pizza place that's carry-out and delivery. There's no actual dining room, just a small area (10x25) in front where people can look at the menu and order/wait for their food. No bathrooms, three small tables and six chairs. It's not even climate controlled. I inquire about DirecTV assuming that because I'm a business the rates would be different. The guy tells me no because I fall well under the minimum square footage/total screen size (I have a single 50" TV on the wall..primarily because I work 10-12 hour days). OK, that makes sense. I get the mid-tier that includes NFL Sunday ticket.
Three months after it's installed I get a phone call from an attorney in NY; DirecTV is planning on filing a lawsuit for copyright violation because I was showing NFL Network in my business. They had an investigator come in as a customer, then he took a screenshot with his phone...after asking if I can turn the TV on!!! They cancelled my service (that I was paying for)and want $25k in damages or it goes to federal court. I tell them to attempt self-gratification and I call my lawyer. I tell him the facts and say I'm willing to stand in front of a judge to plead my case. Back and forth it goes with them dropping the demand every time, then offering to reinstate my service at a higher rate...as if I'd ever give them another dime. They finally let it go when I told them to set a court date and I'll be there with the paperwork.
