It seems pretty obvious to me that "ridding the world of Saddam and his weapons of mass destruction" was little more than an opportunity to ignite the fires of seemingly endless civil wars in Iraq and nearby regions. They had an idea about what might happen if Iraq was "liberated" and Saddam was overthrown, and their predictions have come true. This plan to throw the Islamic world into an endless cycle of chaos and self-destruction has been wildly successful so far.The next step in this rather simple plan is now unfolding. The western allies must move forward together in order to protect themselves from the rising hordes of terrorists and, more precisely, to destroy or subdue Islam and anyone or anything else deemed "incompatible with the 21st century". More control over oil production, the mining of precious minerals, etc.., is also deemed important.
Of course, Putin is worried.
