In Reply to: Ray Rice: out. But, beat your 4-yr. old kid w/a stick, as Adrian Peterson allegedly did, posted by tinear on September 15, 2014 at 10:41:23:
And to boot, reported in the news. Somehow I have lost faith in what is put out by news media.
Questions that come to mind:
". . . beat with a stick . . ." How big a stick? Where was the child hit?
What does 'beat' mean? A whap on the rear? A two inch branch repeatedly across the head?
". . . hurt . . ." Visible marks? Bruising?
I'll reserve judgement until more information is given.
Not all physical punishment is unwarranted. As a six or seven year old a group of friends and I followed a black man down our alley yelling, "Get out of here n****r." The strapping I got was well deserved. That lesson changed my behavior, and eventually I matured enough to understand why it should change.
Had that been done now social workers would yank me out of the home and thrown the book at my mother. Now that's the way to really screw up a kid's life.
