Hey, I had the same plan, a confirmed bachelor. Then when I was 42 I met "the one". Couldn't believe that 2 years later I was married and now for 18 years we've been each other's best friend and I've been happier than ever. We do everything together and never run out of things to talk about. We are the yin and yang for each other.
There is hope for you! ;-)
To the OP, I've never been in your shoes, but you seem to have gotten a lot of good advice here. Good luck with the transition into your new life.
