How do you like the Vitamix? The wife burned up our last blender and I'd looked at it and the other competitor in the high priced market. After reading all the reviews on both at Amazon, I choose to just buy another $40 Kitchenaid and use it until it burned up. It's going on 2 years and works fine. I figure that I've got 9 more to go to get to a Vitamix price. My SiL does have one or a Ninja and it does do better at crushing ice with that blade in the middle, but our frig gives us shaved ice or the our cheap model would be a burned up already.
Yeah, I know, they don't make them like they used to. And it's true. A friend gave us an orange juicer from the 50s when he moved onto a boat. It's the one where you cut the oranges in half and push them down on top of a spinning half sphere, grading thingie. Pure simplicity, hefty motor, catch bin that collects and drains the juice into your glass and it works forever!
And if it ever did break, you could take it apart and replace the brushes. Simple to clean too, only 2 stainless steel parts.
