There always has been pressure to scoop the competition. Happens in all competitive industries. With the severe cuts in news budgeting, it isn't surprising we don't have a lot more. Still, the errors in MSM are a heck of a lot less than in the blogosphere where accuracy appears less frequently than do the errors in MSM.
Again, the tens of thousands of MSM reporting that entirely is accurate and timely is never commented upon; only the very occasional lapses are mentioned--- perhaps because they are so infrequent. Something that is common, i.e. exaggerations and inaccuracies of a certain leading "news" organization founded by an ideologue and run by another, never is news, in itself: it's expected.
