Even young Chimpmunks usually have the stripes the adults have.
Their behavior is a bit odd. I grew in rural WV and have been around
a lot of Chipmunks and Gray squirrels and I have not see many
that adventuresome. Maybe their mother was trying to force
them out of the nest to go out an explore. And they were scared
and came running to you for support.
