Virginia is FAR from being one of the most heavily taxed states. As for the personal property tax/real estate tax question. The "personal property" tax is for things like boats, cars, planes, trucks, etc. while obviously the "real estate" tax is for (what else), real estate. ;-)

While we Virginians are certainly not under taxed, you could do a lot worse in other parts of the country. Please check out this site:

Another thing to consider is that here in Virginia we generally have more personal liberty than our fellow citizens in other states. There's not as much gov'mint interference into one's daily personal life here as in most other states. There's more than suits me, but that's a different story !!

Our roads and bridges and such are generally in good repair, so please, keep a positive attitude about Virginia, you may just like it. Ya just never know.............
