Funny story from USN boot camp

One day we had about 45 min of downtime before our next training class. We were told to sit quietly and memorize whatever...blah blah blah. Instead I started writing a letter to my back-home girlfriend in the notebook that we carried. A few minutes go by...SURPRISE INSPECTION!!!! (which includes notebooks). I quickly tore out the pages and stuffed them down my underwear...avoiding the inevitable embarrassment. Only downside was that I had to spend the next few hours marching in the San Diego sun with crumbled up paper in my crotch.
