Until you get into some of the wickedly expensive snake oil I've found that pretty much any generic contact cleaner available at your local electronics emporium will get the job done quite nicely.
The key to the whole thing is to do all the pots and switches while you're under the hood and to spend a few minutes working each of the control knobs back and forth (sort of masturbatory thing).
Working those controls is important. I find that many folks find a setting they like and tend to leave all the controls at that position - where they accumulate all manner of buildup. So sometimes, what you think is an issue with (say) an input selector, is actually a pot somewhere downstream that is the problem!
