whether drawn from cultural expectation, personal experience, or general priorities on how we spend our leisure time...
From my perspective, I suggest that it is probably both much easier and cheaper to get a vinyl front end to deliver a level of genuine musicality than from silver disc or SACD... That said, I believe that both vinyl and silver disc technologies can deliver results that are genuinely good (as opposed to vinyl's often very much easier to obtain but lower standard of "nice"), but both technologies require good quality components, and be likely for these units to need being very carefully set up/tweaked/modified as necessary to fit in with other system components and the listening environment to produce these optimum results...
Irrespective of many and varied HiFi shows, "high end" dealer's demonstrations, etc, I have only heard one(!) vinyl-fronted and one other silver disc-fronted system that I have regarded as being genuinely and unreservedly excellent, and both of these systems were heard playing in residential homes... :o)
I wish you success in your searches, and assume that options to be auditioned would be obtained on a "home trial" basis... :o)
