No k-news on the bulk recruitment, not even an ack yet!

Today I will mark-out, cut and install the strap hinges that will support the smallish Open Baffles, K/FRoom/HT the fronts.

The carpentry task includes cutting slots out of the radiata-pine wall unit's uprights, a half cylinder out of one edge [|] and two flat insets [] to take the hinge's nut and plates.

NB I will take my time, measure several times, check times, etc.

I WAS going to try the two bass bins and see what I learn, with them fed by the HT proc's bass mgmt/LFE* LPfiltered channels via the '2ch SS power amp', and the existing Magnat 3-ways off the LUX integrated (?an L3).

Butt,t I now realise that the OB's should be beginning to tail off around 120, I meant them to, at least! And there HAS to be a fair bit of lossiness added on their rears as well (close to wall). So I really need to hear them before the heavy / hard to move (and tinker with) bins go in,

And I can use the much lighter Magnats as the LFE/bass bins. They have drivers in them, and are wired with terminals. Polarity matching etc.

Hmmmmmmm!!!

Sometimes my instincts, to turn an approach / problem upside-down, just works!

I may need to add a simple first-order HPass passive xover, a 'ladder cap'. The F3 will very probably need to be spaced apart from the LFE's Low Pass @120 hz item. ? given the anticipated '8ft ceiling/200hz mode'.

And, saving me one parametric active (noisy/audible as electronics) Eq knob, at least, ;-)!.

If necessary I'll be looking at a passive low-pass, as well, giving a 2nd order slope!

NB playin' wiv slopes, speshyully asymmetric slopes for bass to main xovers - can be very rewardin! 'braod notching' as above. And......

In a single filter? you can stagger two together so the slope goes from 1st to 2nd order later on - a half-raised knee shape - and these too can do broad-band room / power response and take out a sharp peak with the right HPass.

Summary? Real world HP's and LP's do not necessarily have to match F3's OR slope, to add to flat in-real-rooms, at least into the lower mids IMO&E!

How else do you think parametric notch type Eq - in the bass - works? ;-)! And they STILL have matching electrical slopes! can't do |/ OR \| slope notches! Unless you use-up two knobs.

IME rooms need filters LIKE that, due to multiple / contiguous modes, esp in L-shaped rooms ;-), ;-)!

enuff with hi-fi already?!

Hokay!
