Why doesn't someone apply for a National Historical Preservation grant? They don't give much money but it would begin the project.I like going to a wedding or (I hate to say "like") funeral so I can hear an organ's reality. There ain't nothin' like a pipe organ to remind you we, as audiophiles, are wasting our time trying to achieve reality. Once in a great while a recording is good enough that we feel the pressure of the sound waves emanating from an instrument...I've even felt it with a guitar recording (no, I wasn't that smart).
That's why I try to have some live music at Ribfest. Knowing by reading about SPLs and feeling the awesome pressure from the bass notes of a huge pipe organ are not a fair comparison...you have to hear the real thing.
Someone here, (was it Bagsy?) loved to go listen to the Wanamaker in Philadelphia.
JSB is a big organ fan. He lusts over my Biggs' LPs every time he's here.
