I personally don't find the flavour particularly endearing. I find any nuance gets lost in the sting of the alcohol content, but that's just my perception. One sip and I'm buzzed I find, and the bitter taste otherwise just doesn't add up to a fun time for me.

I do like certain liqueurs, most of them a bit on the sweet side though (not syrupy however). Unfortunately such beverages tend to end in quite illuminating intellectual discussions, followed by feeling like I was run over by The Blob the next day. Doesn't stop me though *grin*.
