A lot to consider, but I'm leaning towards either a single cat from a pound who has been fixed or a pair of kittens, maybe also from a pound if possible. My 93 year old grandmother has a pair of cats from the same litter and they really do seem to enjoy each other and have no desire to go outside.
Of course the notion of letting the cat pick us is sound advice.
We live in a condo, and while it's pretty big (1,425 square feet) and has a little back yard, we don't have a indoor/outdoor room or the space to build one out.
So, I think it's going to be an indoor cat only for it's own protection. I don't want to end up with a Salem Cat. Salem Cats are cats that are run over so flat that you can pick them up and . . . Salem. Get it? Sail 'em? Uhg. Sorry.
