By all means, adopt from a shelter if you can. I think Siamese tend to be rather demanding as far as attention goes. I think you should just trust that you'll end up with the right cat for you. In fact, it's often the cat that picks the human, not the other way. Adopting an adult cat that has already been de-clawed is a good way to go. The cat has probably already lived in a household so there should be fewer potential problems. Petfinder is a good way to locate shelters and other adoption agencies nearby. They have hundreds of listings and there are usually de-clawed cats available. Just make sure the cat stays indoors. We found two great cats through Petfinder a few years ago. Best of luck to you.
