....My wife and eldest boy only a couple of weeks ago were in the Royal Botanic Gardens & also climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Also, my parents and both my sisters were married not far from Mrs Macquarie Point at the base of Observatory Hill in the famous Garrison Church and all were married by Reverend Allan Begbie, former Anglican Chaplain-General of the Australian Defence Force.

I feel sure if you and your wife truly wish to live here you will one day :o)

Yes, your UK gear will be fine here. (different plug I think?)
