Yeah, I have all of the responsibilities, my own business, kids, a mortgage and the rest.

I think I got stuck somewhere in my youth mentally and never got beyond there.

My wife says she thinks I act like I'm 17 sometimes. She means it as an insult, but I take it as a compliment.

See what I mean?

We guys need our friends, hobbies, interests and ways to escape responsibilities, if even for a few hours. It renews us.

When things get to you, it's time to have a refreshing beverage, a little smoke, or both, kick back and listen to some of your favorite music - it will change your frame of mind and put things in a new perspective. That's usually my routine for Friday night a couple of times a month.

Sometimes my wife joins me when the girls are away and we dance around the kitchen to Motown or disco on my iPod and laugh while we cook dinner together. Makes me feel like even more of a teenager.

These interludes can substitute for your desert island visits until you're actually able to get there...
