Audio Question of the Day, that is.What would you think of this swap?
REL Q150 subwoofer, which cost me about $1,100 new in 2004
in exchange for a
Klyne SK-5 preamp with built in phonostage, which cost about $3,000 new in 1986 and $900 for the current owner in 2004.
Seems to me that from a value standpoint, it's a pretty fair exchange.
The thing is, I don't need a preamp right now, let alone one with no remote (given my disability my wife would be my remote, which is a role I try to minimize, not maximize).
BUT, I am now using it as a phono preamp by running my Scout into its phono input and then its output into one of the imputs of my CJ CA200 (integrated with a passive preamp stage). It does better my little $250 Creek.
I'm not currently using the REL subwoofer, but who knows if I'll want it in the future?
Hmmmm. What think you?
