as snobbery, where genuinely justified, does indeed indicate similar characteristics, by dictionary definition...
What may be rather less straightforward to justifiably define is, for example, where genuine enthusiasts extensively enthuse about the qualities that they regard as marking particular examples as notably better than equivalent "everyday" product...I suspect that, for such enthusiasts, such description would be simply defining and confirming the qualities that define "the best" in their sphere of interest...
I similarly suspect that, for those that are not notable "enthusiasts", such comment may appear and be regarded as simply notably pretentious and irrelevant...
How far any specific accusations of snobbery might actually be justified would be likely to depend on whether the person or persons in question actually is or are "one who imitates, flatters, or associates with those of a higher class than himself, whilst despising those equal to or below him"...
For the above reason, I regard "snobbery" as very frequently being simply an inaccurate term for the circumstances it is used, though whether such judgemental terms may have been chosen to attempt to camouflage personal resentment in such dismissive terms naturally remains an open question...
Bill.
