Sound's O.K., but I think I'll send the amp I just spent a fortune on to have fixed back to Pierre at Mapleshade. I don't know if I told you guys about the Scott's caps all leaking, but I should have talked to Pierre before giving it to my friend to fix.
I e-mailed Pierre, complaining about the leaking caps and told him what Jeff had done and I now have a huge butt-hole! NEVER, NEVER mess with someone's creation and tell them about it! I should have learned when I told Van Alstine I'd put new connections on his amps...but NOOOOO! Pierre all but told me he'd put a hit on me if I was stupid enough not to send it to him for "re-repair." If you've never had a conversation with Pierre, either over the phone or through e-mail, you're missing one of the great treats that hi-fi has to offer. I'd imagine he's 10 times more interesting face to face, but electronically is pretty special!
That damned 2-stage cap! I don't know nothin' 'bout 2 stage caps but I do know how to listen and the 2 caps my friend put in to replace the single 2-stage cap doesn't give me the warm-fuzzies like the amp sounded before I had to have it repaired. So, I'm going to send it where it should have gone in the first place!
When you can't discern anything about a phono stage that was developed and "tuned" for the cartridge you're using, somethings wrong! I have the new Dynavector phono stage here for a PF review and it is a cute (???) little thing with lots of promise but I have no way of knowing it because the Scott, which I have connected right now, does NOT sound like it did before. When your notes from a past review don't match what you hear when you've had work done on an amp how can you review ANYTHING?
I was going to hook up the Anthem and Monarchy's soon anyway, but I wanted to listen through the Scott for awhile. WAAAAAAAH!
I noticed the problem when I listened to my CD of "Famous Blue Raincoat" and was not moved to tears with the title cut. The LP tore me apart when I played it through the Anthem/Monarchy, and the CD did through the Cary preamp I just finished listening to with the Monarchy amps, but I'm left cold with the CDP playing through the Scott.
Oh well, I keep telling myself that when you stop learning you may as well be dead, but I sure wish I wasn't so damned stupid to begin with!

If I had more money I'd soon be broke...but I'd have more LPs!
