What are the chances that you had the fuse? Every time I need a fricken fuse - and I have a little container full of them - the one I need is still at the store. Which is a 20 minute drive there and back - assuming they have the right size. If they don't then it's on to the other parts store so that's another 15 minutes. All for a 50c fuse. Or a bunch thereof.
The "broken - don't work" gear I tend to find is the receiver/integrateds with the jumpers missing from the pre-out main-in. I've likely run across a dozen of those and, generally, all it takes is a little piece of cabling with a couple of inexpensive RCA connectors and we're off to the races.
But get that tube replaced. Re-tubing a Marshall shouldn't be all that expensive so long as you're not all about using NOS tubes. If it's an EL34 amp and you want NOS tubes you could be out-of-pocket for some big coin in right short order. However, the current crop of Svetlanas and Mullard re-issues are getting some good reviews and are (relatively) in-expensive.
[Can you tell I'm trying to find affordable NOS tubes for my Dynacos - EL34s for the one and 6B4Gs for the other? Tres expensive!]
Problem solving in audio has a decided bent to the "KISS" principle on many occasions.
