A few days ago I got a phone call from the local police that they had recovered my son’s stolen trail-bike.

When I collected the bike it was actually spotless (ready to sell they tell me) but with all the decals missing & curiously the air-filter missing. Though I was pleased the bike was in good shape & we were getting it back.

They kid who stole it is still at large and is wanted over a number of “incidents”. The police advised me not to allow the “kid” to associate with my kids. (They did not elaborate as to “why” they have now formed this opinion)

I was at the police station for about 90mins to secure the release of the bike. I had the Invoice (bill of sale) but it was made out to “cash sale” and not “Mr Sox”. Even though the invoice had stapled to it a machine generated receipt of the purchase with my Visa card # on it & I showed them my Visa card with my name on it they were reluctant to release the bike. Apparently the police procedure requires proof of ownership with name and address on an invoice for a “motor vehicle”. Thankfully common sense prevailed and they released the bike to me.

As to not tempt fate the bikes are now secured to a 75mm X 75mm steel post with high-tensile steel chain.

I will buy a “lotto ticket” this week.

Smile

Sox
