8 watts may be technically enough to drive 92dB speakers but offers little headroom for dynamics.
High efficiency horn/bass reflex is what works for me. Altec 806A compression drivers and 811B sectoral horns crossed to JBL 2226 at 1600 Hz in a 4 cu ft ported box. Overall sensitivity 97 dB.
There's a conventional wisdom about 'horns taking you to the performers and cones bringing the performers to you' which is partly true. The great thing about horns and the 300B is you get both: dynamics and nuance.
