Hi Seth,

I think the lack of response to your post is due to the newness of this forum and the fact that you asked for a comparison between the Avantgardes and the Oris. There probably are very few people walking this earth that have actually had the opportunity to hear both of these speakers.

I have heard them both and will comment here but just remember I'm biased towards the Oris. Both speakers are somewhat similar sounding. The Avantgardes have slightly better high frequency extension (due the extra tweeter). But that may change as I will have the new AER diaphrams to install in my PM4As (these are suppose to improve the Lowther's high frequencies). I think the Oris is more balanced and can provide a little more detail due to the minimal use of crossovers. The Oris' sweet spot is bigger than the Avantgardes thus providing a little more dimensionality to the soundstage. These are the main differences between the two. I'm really happy with the sound I'm getting from the Oris but would also be happy if I owned a pair of the Avantgardes, i.e. I like them both.

The bass cabinet design is complete and sounds really good. I'm just trying to pull together all of the quotes to get the thing manufactured. I hope to have pricing finalized by next week.

Regardless of whether or not you biamp, you might want to consider this cabinet design for either application.

Ron
