Hi,

Like to hear your opinion.

I own the Laurel IIX standard monoblocks with EH300b, Tungsol 6sl7 and Mullard GZ37. I also have a amp using VT-25 tube (10y) putting out 1.3w (!)

Though I like both amp very much, I do find the VT-25 tube giving out more refined detail at the top end and has more "attack" and ambience. It does play loud on sensitive speakers. Laurel on the other hand is more laid back and relaxed in its presentation. With an extra 7 watts from the 300B, it has more reserve to drive less sensitive speakers.

The question is: is there anything I can do to the Laurel amp to make it sound more like a 10y amp? options like parts upgrade, tube rolling etc? I have settled on the EH300b coz I have tried TJ for years and I dont like the sound though some say it sounds close to 45 tube.

Like to hear.

c.
