Hello people. I have a pair of "ultimate" 300b DRD amps coming soon. I am curious if anyone has ever added a tube rectifier to a pair of these amps with SS rectification? I will be using these on a pair of 16 ohm tad td-4001 compression drivers feeding vintage JBL 31" x 31" 2360A biradial horns. I wanted a really quiet amplifier for the horns. I will be using a CJ Premier 4 amplifier with 8 - mullard el34 tubes for the bass bins. The speakers will be crossed at 800Hz with a Marchand xm-126, 2-way tube crossover. I just ordered the 800 Hz crossover module today from Phil Marchand. It should arrive next week about the same time the 300b amps arrive that have the tasty 300b TJ meshplate tubes in them. The bass bins are jbl 4648A-8 with twin 15" woofers. Not state of the art, but these speakers sound pretty good to my ears. So has anyone gone from SS rectification over to tube rectification on the DRD 300b amps that came with SS rectification? Thanks in advance. I am really looking forward to hearing these ultimate 300b DRD amps listening to a few albums, and some CD's. Should be lots of fun to listen to. I am also ordering a pair of the Herbie tube dampers for the 300b tubes. They worked wonders on my mullard el-34 tubes.
