Can I substitute the existing 6AC7 metal tube on my Laurel IIX with the various 6sj7, 6sg7 or even the red 5693?

If yes, what sonic difference would I be expecting?

And I notice there are the GT (glass tube) version of the above tubes and the metal case version. ARe they all compatible?
